See the most opulent tomb discovered in the Americas in Sipan. Explore the colorful burial tombs of Revash, the Centro Mallqui Museum, which houses an amazing collection of pre-Inca mummies and Kuelap, the spectacular pre-Inca walled fortress hidden atop a precipitous mountain built by the pre-Incan Chachapoyas culture. Near colonial Trujillo, visit the Moche Temples of the Sun and Moon, and the giant palace complex of Chan Chan. Pachacamac and the Gold Museum of Lima are also featured in this impressive exploration!

CHACHAPOYAS & KUELAP CIVILIZATIONS - 12 Days/ 11 Nights

Day 01 Arrive in Lima, transfer to selected hotel. (Sunday)

Day 02 City tour of the modern and colonial areas of Lima well-known as the “City of the Kings”. (B)

Day 03 Visit the Archaeological museum, Puruchuco archaeological site and the world famous Gold Museum. (B)

Day 04 Flight to Chiclayo. Full day tour of Sipan, one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the last 20 years, Monsefu and Chiclayo city. (BL)

Day 05 Departure from Chiclayo by private car/bus with air conditioning, arriving late afternoon in Chachapoyas. Overnight at Hostal El Chillo. (BLD)

Day 06 Visit the colorful funeral buildings of Revash with box lunch and on to Leimebamba, with a collection of pre-Inca mummies discovered in the Laguna de los Condores. (BLD)

Day 07 Visit Kuelap, a spectacular pre-Inca walled city hidden atop a precipitous mountain. (BLD)

Day 08 Morning trek to Chachapoyas burial towers of Macro, an outpost of the Chachapoyas. Optional tour of Karajia and the mysterious Sarcophagi carved into the hillside. (BLD)

Day 09 Return to Chiclayo by road. Overnight. (BL)

Day 10 Land transfer to Trujillo, visiting El Brujo, an interesting Moche archaeological site en route. Overnight. (B)

Day 11 Full day colonial Trujillo city tour, Chan Chan, the capital of Chimu empire and the largest adobe mud brick settlement in the world and nearby beach of Huanchacoyou. (BL)

Day 12 Visit to the Sun and Moon temples, important center of Moche culture. Return by flight to Lima. (B)
