Trail of the Incas - 10 Days/ 9 Nights

Day 01 Arrive in Lima, transfer to selected hotel.

Day 02 Flight to Cuzco. Afternoon City and nearby ruins tour: amazing colonial city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces, Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, temple of Kenko and Tambomachay, known as the "Baths of the Inca". (B)

Day 03 Full Day Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo Inca fortress tour. Lunch included. (BL)

Day 04 Transfer to our trailhead at Piscacucho, on the Vilcanota River to start the hike. Explore the enormous Inca ruins of Llactapata, continue up a side valley of the Cusichaca River to camp near the hamlet of Huayllabamba. (BLD)

Day 05 Steep climb through fields and forest, then emerge above the treeline and reach Warmiwañusqa Pass (13,776’) with magnificent views to the Huaynay Range snow peaks and distant Inca ruins. Overnight at camp. (BLD)

Day 06 Cross a second pass (12,661’), and follow Inca highway down to the ridge-top ruins of Sayaqmarka. Camp at the Wiñaywayna ruins. (BLD)

Day 07 Hike up to Machu Picchu through the Gate of the Sun to observe the sunrise over the citadel and tour of the ruins. Lunch included. Afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes and overnight stay at hotel. (BLD)

Day 08 Free day to explore the ruins. Return to Cuzco and overnight. (BL)

Day 09 Flight to Lima. City tour of the modern and colonial areas of Lima well-known as the “City of the Kings”. Overnight. (B)

Day 10 Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to the airport for return flight to the U.S. (B)
